All Souls Day

All Souls Day, also known as Cheng Beng or Qing Ming is one major event in the Chinese calendar, observed by Chinese communities all over the world which falls on April 5 every year except on leap years when it falls on April 4. During this period, the Chinese community will visit graves of deceased family members and ancestors to pay their respects. It can be done 10 days before and after the actual date of Cheng Beng. Graves are weeded and cleaned, joss-paper is burnt, and offerings are made.

Because of this event, i have to wake up early despite i only sleep for several hours. We departed from the house at 8am where we were caught in a massive traffic jam on the way to the Teluk Bahang cemetry for two and a half hour before we finally reach and found a parking space.

At the graves we stay for another two hours there where we offer foods, fruits, joss-papers etc for my grandparents before we burnt the joss-papers and light the firecrackers before leaving at 12.30pm. Not forgetting we also eat ice cream and rojak to cool ourselves down as the weather today is superbly hot. I almost get roasted if i have to stay there for another hour.

Guess i will take some nap for an hour or two as my eyes seems very heavy...
